Instructions

Use the KingMark Calculator to determine the magnification percentage of a KingMark x-ray displayed in PACS, TraumaCad, or other planning software.

STEP 1:

On the x-ray, identify the KingMark ball and rod which are closest to the same level as the hips.
See Example
If the markers are very off center and not positioned between the hips, the x-ray should be repeated.

STEP 2:

Measure the diameter of the ball and the length of the rod (to the nearest 0.1 mm).

STEP 3:

Enter the ball and rod measurements into the KingMark Calculator, then click Calculate. The magnification percentage is displayed.

STEP 4:

In TraumaCad, open the Calibration Window and select Use Ruler Tool For Calibration.

  1. Draw a line on the x-ray that is the same length as the calculated magnification percentage (i.e. Draw a 118.3 mm line if the magnification percent was 118.3). As you draw, the length of the line is displayed on the image and changes as you draw and resize the line.
  2. Enter 100 in the Marking Size field, then click Accept.
  3. If the length of the line now reads “100”, then the x-ray is correctly calibrated. You may proceed with templating.
